Found this

I was doing some research and came across this site

didn’t know if anyone had seen it its business focused but a lot of the usage of social media can be directly transferred to local government

open social source

Currently doing a report on social media and seeing a lot of convergence with open source systems.
which has got me wondering what is the main application for an open source system with in an local authority

is it for example a cms for intranet or possible a websites or would it be more things like paint.net to replace photo shop or paint shop installs or perhaps moving to google docs or even open office to replace Microsoft’s cash drain ?

http://www.opensourcecms.com/ - site grouping together all the open-source cms system with a tryout system so you can see which one suite you best

http://paint.net/ - powerful photoshop alternative

http://www.openoffice.org/ - as good as office 2003 not sure but dose have some nice touches the potential is there

social media

Trying to write a report on social media and even though i have the basics in my head there is still so much to know

the general advice of which i am getting is to know your market plan not what tool you will use which is all well and good for most business out there as the market dose dictate the tool

but

when your in local government surly that means you have a broader market so you need a broader range of tools which sounds perfectly reasonable until you look at the time management perspective with out having a dedicated social media office is social media still viable and even with a dedicated officer are the results worth it

i think thats my main question for this report which i will publish it here when its done

oh and just so you know the feedback I'm getting so far is yes it really is worth it!
